Students participate in a wide range of off-site visits throughout the academic year to support the school’s holistic approach to learning. In line with our Purpose, Aims and Values we want students to be part of a community and as independent as possible.  In order to learn to their full potential, our students need to feel confident, enthused by learning and have a trusting relationship with fellow students and staff.  Educational visits are crucial in creating a school environment where students are supported, whilst also being challenged to try new experiences.

Our new curriculum offer, which started 2025, has a Community pillar and within this area of learning students access their local community to ensure key skills connected to safe travel, communication and confidence are both taught and developed. The range of opportunities works on a spiral structure with opportunities to both rehearse and further develop skills across each Gallery.  Example learning and progression includes being able to navigate and interact within the school community, to being able to access local shops and provisions, to using public transport and navigating the city centre.

We have also developed a rich residential offer which is also based on a spiral structure.

Tate Gallery

We offer a 1 night residential to Hill End, which challenges our younger students to be in a different environment and to be away from home.

Louvre Gallery

We offer a 2-night residential to Charney Manor. This is further away from school and has a greater focus on interacting with students from across the Gallery and independence skills.

Guggenheim Gallery

We offer a 4-night residential to Brighton. Students travel to and from the accommodation by train and need to navigate withing an unknown city. Students also take a greater role in organising the week.

MCA Gallery

We offer a 4-night outdoor education residential to Glasbury-on-Wye. This provides a greater physical and mental challenge. Students are in a very different setting and challenged to push their boundaries.

We aim to meet to both support and challenge students outside the classroom, as well as inside: in order to promote happy, fulfilled and well-rounded students who are equipped for life beyond school.
