As students move through the academy one of our targets is to try to teach them to travel independently, this is supported through both our Community pillar of the curriculum and bespoke opportunities. The academy runs a comprehensive independent travel program, which supports students on the road to gaining their independence and this life long life skill. Independent travel can take many forms, this may be using the bus, using their own bikes or walking to school. In the first instance a member of staff or an older student who is acting as a peer mentor normally accompanies them.
