Monique De Jager, Teacher
My name is Mrs de Jager (also known as Ms DJ) and I am the class teacher for Kahlo. I have been working in education since 2012. I am South African and have lived in the UK since 2009. I live with my husband, two sons and Snowy the cat! We love nature, kayaking and having a braai (BBQ) as a family. I enjoy baking and to unwind I read a book. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who painted mostly self portraits after suffering severe injuries following a bus accident. Her paintings are inspired by nature and she used bold, vibrant colours. “At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can” – Frida Kahlo

Anna Hallmark, Teacher
My name is Anna Hallmark and I teach in Kahlo Class with Ms De Jager. I have been at the
Iffley Academy for over two years but have worked in Education since 2006 – in London and
Oxford in a variety of different settings.
I live in Oxford with my partner and our son, and also Mittens the tabby cat and Kirby the
Labrador dog. Mittens is the boss of our house.
We love to go on long walks with Kirby, exploring nature, reading, seeing our friends, playing
board games and travelling. I also love to cook and eat and explore new foods from around
the world.
Frida Kahlo is such an inspiring artist to have our class named after – her life’s work
encourages us to persevere, be strong, express ourselves and value and embrace our
identities.
